We are interested in work that’s in dialogue with or comes out of spirituality/philisophy, heritage, ancestral connections, true dreaming, ecology, non-western thought, modernist, post-modernist & meta-modernist modes of expression, unbound experimentation, multilinguality, a place of real meaning and communion between people, hearts, or the medium itself. We are also partial to works that somehow form or are part of a wider dialogue - for instance, duologues, interviews, recipes, correspondances, collaborative work, excerpts from larger works, response pieces, translation, process/constraint, visual poetry/cross medium work etc. If you are looking to submit, please have a scan of our website info / some of the publications on our store to get a gist of what we look for.
We publish visual art, poetry, experimental prose, essays/creative-non fiction, scripts, sound pieces and non-genre-restricted creations. All mediums of art accepted -- if your medium does not traditionally translate to print, suggest how you think it could appear in a LUMIN Journal issue). We are also happy to accept submissions from both single artists and duos/groups/collectives. Simultaneous submissions welcome. You can email us in any appropriate format (though preferably not googledocs for text; pdf or .doc is easier for us/won’t affect formatting as much).
We particularly encourage submissions from ‘marginalised’ artists as we (editors Beau & Sadia) understand and have experienced for ourselves some of the barriers and lack of equity in the arts, particularly for BME & BME women, LGBTQ+, disabled, neurodivergent and low-income artists/writers. We will be ringfencing at least half of the spaces in each journal for marginalised artists; and will also be offering a free copy and small payment (amount TBC) to ALL accepted artists.
Submit to email@example.com - along with your submissions, please include a short third person bio and relevant links, if any (i.e. personal websites).
